Twitter is blocked in Dubai. Not much else I wanted to look at in my first 12 hours is. There’s debate about whether Flickr is blocked — I can see the website thanks to a Firefox plugin but none of the uploaders work except the most basic one — but twitter is flat out NOT THERE unless you view it via a proxy which is what I eventually did.
There is one ISP here so if you can’t see it, you pretty much can’t see it. Workarounds exists for the technically savvy but otherwise you want to see what Twitter is about, you’ll get this.
last.fm, couchsurfing.com and youtube are also blocked to look at profile pages but you can look at the main YT site, not true for the other sites.
